Why a laptop?
When you can add all you stuff on a USB Stick!
Yes right, you just need a USB stick , download from PortableApps Portable Apps Suite.
Downloaded, click the PortableApps.com.exe and point to you USB Stick and you are done!
Unplug & replug and a small menu pops up. there you have all your program on a stick, easy as that!
Now you can go to any computer and you have all your program with you.
So why do you need a laptop, ok, some people need to work where there is no PC.
But like for me, office, home, travel to friends, internet cafe, my pc is in my pocket now.
Downside, to run Firefox and Thunderbird fast, your stick should be fast too.
But what is a fast stick, there are no real indications, to identify a fast USB stick.
Best guideline is, pay more!(good things cost money) and see if they do advertise the writing and reading speed of the USB Stick.
But still, searching on the Portable Apps forum, there is no real real advise to find.
Most PortableApps freaks recommend Corsair Flash Voyager2 4GIG, but this one had a bad test result in Chip.de, the winner been there Imation Swivel Flash Drive 4GIG.
BUT, Chip.de does not really explain, how they test the USB Sticks!? funny, but it must be really hard to find a way, what could be seen as standard.
So on this point, i believe more the people from PortableApps, with there experience, that the Corsair Voyager2 really makes things fly.
As my usb stick, a old Transcend 2GIG really really slows down by FF and TH.
Now i will look for a Corsair…but in the meantime, i took a external hard drive and it works so GREAT!
Still bigger then a USB stick, but much smaller then a Laptop
Ps, in the PortableApps Bundle, there are many programs, but i missed a feedreader and a blogging software.
check it out > GreatNewsReader and wbloggar and you will find many more program, just search for Portable.
